Here are a few announcements for Wednesday, March 10, 2010.
Meeting tonight The meeting is at 7pm at Taunton School. Tonight we will have the K-9 unit in at 7:30 where the officers will share with us the job the dog and handler are in charge of. Also another officer I believe it will be Officer McBride will also speak to the scouts. Parents please be aware that there will be a dog present at this meeting.
MERIT BADGES- Everyone should have signed up for at least one merit badge this cycle. If you have not please see Mrs. Morris before the end of the meeting (03/10/2010). If you wish to sign up for another merit badge also see Mr. Morris .MERIT BADGES WILL BEGIN ON MARCH 17th at 7pm. The following weeks are as follows

New Scouts- Let us please welcome the following new scouts to Troop 258 David Boyle, Stephen Cannatelli, Ryan Conte, Christopher Cook, Davis Dawson, Daniel Jaichner, Jacob Nash, William Rittweger, Tyler Rother, Robert Snyder

Please Click herefor Medical forms. Deposits of 75.00 is now due please see Mrs Negron for payment. Any family with a hardship please see Mr. Smith, Mrs. Negron or Mrs. Morris. All is confidential. Participation in summer camp is strongly recommended. The boys have a lot of fun and earn merit badges not always offered by the troop (water merit badges.)
MEDICAL FORMS are the class 3 forms available on the troop website and must be filled out by a physician. These forms are DUE NO LATER THAN JUNE 9th. If there is a problem with doctor/insurance please let Mrs. Morris know.
PLANT SALE -Yes it is that time of year again sign-ups for the plant sale are fast approaching. Reminder every scout and parent must do 10 hours of plant sale between the 2 holidays. Sea Base scouts must do their extra time as well.
Venture patrol - A meeting is planned for this Wednesday at 7 pm. We will talk gear, finances, and stuff. They are also planning a Venture Patrol camping weekend at Camp Glen Gray April 9, 10, 11. The camp offers a lot, fishing, hiking, orienteering, geocaching. Please let Mr Yim or Mr Strempek know if you are interested. Things being planned..... May trip to Round Valley, where you have to kayak/canoe to the camp sites. This will be a weekend of fishing and camping. It is a world renowned lake trout fishery, BIG fish. In June a fishing trip on a party boat is being planned.
Seabase Events - There will be a seabase fundraiser at Friendly’s in the Freehold Mall on March 15th from 5pm-8pm. Friendly's at the Mall (lower level by Sears)15% of the stores total receipts get donated to the troop for the 3 hour span Please mark your calendars accordingly.
Drug Awareness- Had to be rescheduled, March 10th will be a tentative date We will be having a K-9 unit come to talk to the scouts about their job. This does include having a K-9 dog present at the meeting.
ORDER OF THE ARROW Elections for Order of the Arrow are just around the corner. (March 24th) This a boy run nomination and election process. More info to follow at the meeting.
SNOW TUBING- Snow tubing is scheduled for March 6th at Blue Mountain Resort in Pa. Permission slips are on web site and as attachment. We need help with transportation
Experienced Uniform Box if you have gear or clothing your scout no long needs, or outgrew over the summer, please consider donating them to the experienced uniform box for another scout. Donations of all scout clothing and equipment is welcomed.
Forestburg Camping trip We will be camping at Forestburg the weekend of March 19th-21st. Permission slips are available.Please sign up as soon as you can. This is a very popular trip and everyone has fun. Please make your own transportation arrangements.
Franklin Institute Our troop recently visited the museum. There are 5 tickets available to visit the museum before April 18th. The cost is 22.00 per ticket and includes the I-Max theater and Body Works. Anyone interested please see Mrs. Morris
Service Time Any service time you have done either with the troop or privately, please e-mail Coleen Reinknecht at coleenreinknecht@gmail.com. Please let her know if you did service time such as food drive in the spring, Eagle projects, Veterans Flags on the grave, Blue and Gold Dinners, etc. We don't have many of you recorded on our service hour lists and we know you did attend many of these events. Please remember it is your responsibility to report your time.
